Budokan ju-jitsu club specialises in teaching the japanese martial art of ju-jitsu .
Ju-jitsu is an extremely effective form of self defence and a healthy activity for people of all ages and fitness levels.
Ju-jitsu is a japanese martial art which uses a combination of strikes, blocks , holds, locks, chokes and throws to overcome an opponent .
Many modern combat styles originate from Jujitsu: in the early 20th century Christian Japanese developed Aiki Jutsu from JuJitsu which later evolved into Aikido. In 1882 Jigaro Kano developed the sport version of JuJitsu, namely Judo.
Ju-jitsu was originally taught to the samurai warriors of japan as a defence when he had lost his weapons unarmed the samurai would still be in a position to defend himself against both armed and unarmed enemy .
The aim was the same as for the unarmed combat skill taught today maim, incapacitate or kill the attacker, and escape to fight again.
New students are always welcome and the club has a commitment to teach ju-jitsu to all those willing to learn, regardless of age , gender , level of fitness or physical ability.
